You may also find The Rules helpful. They answer many questions you might have about the process.
Young or old, tall or short, bespectacled or monocled, we don't differentiate. Bear With Books is for anyone and everyone who likes reading books, just like you.
Yes! As long as they're not pirated copies, we'd love to add them to our library. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with a list of the books you'd like to donate. Please mention that you're a "book donor" in the subject of the email.
Not at this time, unfortunately.
There's no list right now. We're just starting out and are hoping to grow our library with your help. We'll send you any book you ask for as long as we can find it, and thanks to you, that book will become a permanent part of our library.
Well, there are some caveats. We will chiefly be dealing in relatively popular fiction and non-fiction books. We won't be able to send you any rare books, academics texts, or magazines. Besides that, we'll do our best to send you any book you ask for.
Typically, up to 3 days.
We'll contact you to admit our failure within 3 days (and humbly seek your forgiveness).
For now, cash only. We will collect the payment from your address (the one you provided in your sign-up information). We will, of course, take your availability into account and contact you via phone and/or email before showing up.
Hit the "Return Book" button in the Members area of our website. Fill out your info and let us know when you'd like us to collect the book. We'll pick it up from your address. Yes, it's that simple.
One book at a time.
Yes. But you can still order another book without having to return the current one. We'll put your order in the pipeline. And the next time we come over to collect the current book, we'll bring along your next order as well.
The technical limit is 21 days. But you can keep a book as long as you want by renewing it (through the Members area on our website). Renewing a book will reset its loan period which means you'll get to keep it for 21 days starting from the time of your renewal request. Keep in mind that we won't be able to send you any other books until you return the one you have.
We'll send you a reminder (via email and SMS) 3 days before a book is due to be returned. You can then decide to renew the book if you haven't finished reading it. Or you can do nothing in which case we'll collect the book from your address on the return date.
We'll reach out to you. If you have a valid reason for why you weren't able to return the book before or on its return date, there'll be a short grace period during which you may return the book. If you still fail to return it, we'll assume you're just not a very nice person and cancel your membership.
We'll keep adding more questions to this page as we figure out which things we aren't communicating clearly. If you have any questions that are not answered here or in The Rules, please feel free to send an email to email@example.com.
